| Palletising
generally tales place at the end of a production line. There are
dedicated solutions, limited axis gantry systems and also 6 axis
robots in palletising applications. Some may also spin the pallet
around whilst it is being loaded to reduce the number of axes required
by the robot.
Palletising
is the high density stacking of product for bulk transportation.
Some lines are dedicated to single products manufactured at the
maximum output rate of the plant. They are generally delivered to
the palletising station by conveyor, which may be high or low speed,
handling singles or multiples depending on cycle times and output
requirements.
Sometimes
alternate layers require a different stacking pattern to ensure
stability in transport. Some lines palletise a variety of product
by accommodating a mix on the same layer. It is also possible to
consider making up of pallets to order if the product mix is suitable.
Other
techniques concern protection and stability, with cardboard seperators
between layers and also corner or edge protection in some cases.
Adhesives
may be employed to prevent slippage during pallet handling and it
is not uncommon to see a stretchwrapper in the system to envelope
the completed pallet and ensure no movement during transit.
